A109. Smell of fenugreek, fresh and dried. Pileus green in alkali. S. thwaitesii - chArcoal grey, D. ionides - pink brown to red brown. Hydnellum and Sarcodon seem dubiously separated. Sarcodon flesh firm to fragile, medium to large, not incorporating debris. Hydnellum tough, fibrous, small to medium, often incorporating debris. Hydnellum type H. suaveolnes, Sarcodon type S. imbricatus. This without clamps - S. ionides. For Geesteranus ... 1 - Flesh tough, frb small to medium (to 3.5cm) , reddish brown, often incorporating debris - H. scrobiculatum 1’ - Flesh firm to fragile, frb medium to large, not incorporating debris - 2 2 - Without clamps, context purplish pink, cap pinkish brown to red brown - ionides, 2' - with clamps -3 3 - context without purple tints, cap purplish grey - S. sp.1 3’ - context with purple tints, cap grey/black - S. thwaitesii (carbonarius)
