Specimen notes
Public Note:
Yellow cushions on scale insects on young Totara. Surface becoming tan. Asci in fascicles within locules deep in stroma. No obvious ostioles. Ascospores muriform, hyaline, without mucilage. Keys to Dictycyclus within the Myringiaceae but that with a thyriaceous ascostronmata. Best looked for in Myriangium and entomogenous ones are duriaei, M. curtisii, M. montagnei and M. (Angatia) thwaitesii. Of these M. curtisii and M. montagnei have yellow stroma but surface of montagnei is said to be brown by Petch. This is not M. thwaitesii auct, although the use of that name in NZ for a fungus on Leptospermum scale probably needs re-investigation. Tube is ex cult, but came out as Coprinopsis?
