Specimen notes
Public Note:
Opening like a Geastrum and with a pseudostipe. Spores with coarse separate echinulae. Peridium thick, areolate. Spores =11.0-13.7µm (µ=12.3, σ=0.8), very variable in size. Echinulae to 2um. Without clamps. For Cunningham and Grgurinovich S. flavidum now treated under S. cepa. Surely not S. cepa sensu S. Africa original, or the USA S. flavidum. S. polyrhizum (10-15, reticulate) auct Au, S. australe (6-10)/myama(8.8-11.2) sit? I doubt spore size is a good character. If NZ S. cepa and S. albida with Kunzea turn out to be the same then also S. flavidum f. macrospora (not typified), and C. caespitosum (invalid). A re-established S. radicans would seem the best name given current knowledge.
