Specimen notes
Public Note:
[WMD]Fruit bodies growing on top of a large very rotten log with a fibrous cap and light apricot gills. Cap with a depression and with inrolled margin, 1.8-3.5 cm diam. x 3-4 cm height. Gills thick, forked, descending. Stipe 3 mm increasing to 9 mm at swollen base of juvenile, brown, fibrous, appears 'woolly'. Older fruit bodies do not have the swollen base. White spored. Remnant mature coastal broadleaf forest. [JAC]I've looked at the material and it has dextrinoid spores. I believe this is the real Hygrophoropsis umbriceps, and the version linked above is Horak's misinterpretation, which is a pagoda-less Podosperpula. Confirmed as the real one, although sequence is poor.
