Specimen notes
Public Note:
2-spored. Cap with pileocystidia but without extended hairs (except Petersens' hairs look like cystidia and cystidia look like cap cells). Clamp connections absent. spores length=14.7–17.3µm (µ=16.0, σ=0.92), width=9.5–10.9µm (µ=10.4, σ=0.32), Q=1.4–1.8µm (µ=1.55, σ=0.11), n=16, ellipsoid. near amygdaliformis f. bispora/mundroola. New record for NZ. ITS suggests within gigaspora group along with trichofera and superbiens. Seems bets to treat tricofera/superbeins/gigaspora as a single species, and mundroola perhaps just a 2-spored variant 1 Basidia 2-spored, spores Q=1.6, length = 19 - Mundroola 1 Basidia 4 spored, spores Q < 1.5, length < 17 - 2 2 Spores < 14 - 3 2 Spores > 14 - 4 3 Q < 1.1, L= 13, stipe white (not reliable)- colensoi 3 Q >= 1.2, L=13.5, stipe with brown - trichofera 4 Q > 1.3, L= 15.6, stipe brown - superbiens 4 Q < 1.3, L= 14.6, stipe white - gigaspora
