Specimen notes
Public Note:
only a small number of conidia produced from each collarette. Hard to decide if Chalara or Chaetochalara. Basal hyphal mosaic distinctive, scabrous. Phialoconidia 0-1 septate (mostly 1 -septate but obscure), with very small basal frill. Venter and collarette asperate. Venter/collarette cylindrical, transition smooth -sometimes, length 30-40um x 5-7um. Ratio 4:1. Conidia 15 x 4-5um. This is clearly related to C. scabrida/curvata but is neither. sp. nov. Pesumably a high altitude species or it would have been noted before. Hyphoderma cordylines on same material. Non sporulating potential isolate sequences to Lophiotrema vagabundum.
