Specimen notes
Public Note:
Note the distinct blueing to this collection. It has ITS/LSU within the main L. scabrum group. Consequently the presence of blueing in Leccinum is not a reliable character, and is quite common and variable in many species in the Leccinoidea. L. schistophilum is a different taxon and confirmed as present in NZ but can only be distinguished by the form of caulocystidia, although the character has not been checked for reliability.
