Specimen notes
Public Note:
PDD 102434 and PDD 102435 Leaf spots on Melicytus. Irregularly shaped spots up to 15 mm across. Fruit bodies of two fungi evident on lower surface; the spot divided up into distinct angular zones, restricted in shape by leaf veins. The slightly darker zones contain Mycosphaerella pseudothecia, dark walled, globose, gregarious, spaced about 0.2 mm apart across the leaf tissue. Asci cylindrical, about 40 x 6-7 um; ascospores about 10-12 x 3 um, 1-septate, upper cells slightly wider than lower, slightly constricted at septum. The pales zones contain pale-walled pycnidia, globose, somewhat larger than the Mycosphaeralla pseudothecia, fewer and more widely spaced across the leaf, about 1 mm apart. Wall with slightly darkened cells around the round, apical ostiole. Wall 1-3 layers of cells thick, conidiogenous cells ampuliform, conidia cylindric, straight, tapering slightly to ends, base slightly truncate, about 27-30 x 4-5 um, hyaline, 0-1 septate.
