Characterised as:
Two cultures (ICMP 6864, ICMP 6876) from Lolium were an unidentified Neosetophoma sp., sister to N. samarorum. The ITS sequence matched that from CBS 672.68, identified as Coniothyrium cerealis (GenBank accession AJ293812), but no other genes were available from CBS 672.68 to confirm this relationship. The SMML database includes numer- ous reports of Phoma and Phoma-like spp. associated with Lolium, many without DNA sequence data available.
