Note:
ICMP 21392 is very close to a GenBank records accessioned as Cadophora orchidicola (some of these records use the synonym Leptodontidium orchidicola), in the Ploettnerulaceae. Lauren's specimen has a 98.2% match to AF214576 (from UAMH1852, extype specimen of C. orchidicola), and 99.5% match to AF214578 (from UAMH5628, another authentic C. orchidicola specimen); no problem calling them the same species based on the current taxonomy. [but see note from 2021]

Note:
ITS in a clade containing Cadophora variabilis, C. echinata and C. gamsii, from study of root endophytes of Cruciferae (Macia-Vicente et al. 2020, https://doi.org/10.1186/s43008-020-00036-w). These species are phylogentically distinct to Cadophora s.s. and may require several new genera.
