Notes:
Cf. Frankel & Hair, N.Z.J.O.S.T. 18:1937:683.(R145). This specimen was found to resenble Hebe canterburiensis so closly that doubts were expressed as to its authenticity. However, the facts of the sampling and cytological examination, the first by T.W. Rawson, the second by O.H. Frankel, are recorded, and were vividly recalled by both of us now. The sample was taken by T.W. Rawson in 1951 from the original plant growing along the west wall of the W.R.I. laboratory at Lincoln College. O.H. Frankel found at that time 40II and 2I in meiosis, confusing with high probability the nature of this plant as F1(odora x subalpina). 9-11-66. O,H,F, [Frankel OH].
