Habitat:
Boggy clearing with scattered scrub (Coprosma spp., Dracophyllum longifolium, Phormium sp.) concentrated near Burns Creek banks and small herbs and ferns (Ranunculus sp. Austroblechnum penna-marina, tussock). Small streams in boggy area and ground covered with dead leaves from a swamp plant (that dies back in winter and the tiny reddish shoots are just emerging). > 15 plants scattered along scrubby edge, at least two dead bushes. Significant amount of grazing in clearing by goats, pigs and deer (saw 8 goats, 6 in clearing), but no grazing visible on Veronica.
Notes:
Plants < 1.3m tall, leaves no further than 10cm down stems, only 3 plants with few flowers. iNaturalist observation: 8179297
