Habitat:
Steep south-facing bank formed from the scarp of a cliff edge slump. Thin veneer of soil over the underlying basalt rock, although significant rock is exposed along the bank. The bank has many narrow ledges and a sheep track angles up the scarp at its eastern edge. Craspedia grows in open sites amongst herbfields, grassland, and under the margins of coastal shrubs and flax.
Notes:
Craspedia (y) (CHR 516260; Cape Saunders) in de Lange et al. (2018). Scape dark red, 8-13 cm. Glomerule c. 12 mm wide x 8 mm high. Leaf 2-4.2 x1.0 cm with widest width at 1.5-3.0 cm. Corolla cream. 203 plants observed on 14 Dec 2023 by John Barkla et al. Plants robust and overall in good health.
