Habitat:
Well established throughout a small sphagnum wetland (c. 15 m x 20 m). Growing as a near-continuous canopy in a small gently-sloping sphagnum wetland. Drier ground around the margins support secondary manuka scrub and occasional residual mountain beech emergents.
Microhabitat:
The small wetland is dominated by occasional emergent Leptospermum scoparium, Chionochloa rubra, Carex secta and Hierochloe redolens over Machaerina rubiginosa over Blechnum penna-marina and Sphagnum cristatum.
Notes:
Proposed QEII covenant
The site has been significantly modified by fire and pastoralism and remains theoretically accessible to livestock, however there is no evidence of any livestock intrusion onto the soft wetland surface.
