Medium fine tussock; new leafy shoots tend to be green then becoming dull orange-green with age; leaf-sheaths dark red; leaves obscurely concavo-covex, greater than culms, tips not cirrhose. Culms fine and lax, c. 20 to 25 cm long x 0.5 mm wide; subterete, smooth; 4 to 5 spikes per inflorescence, spikes red-brown. 3-styled.
