Spreading habit, tangled a bit; short rhizomatous; culm 35-50 cm; leaves channelled 110-220 mm long x 1.4-2.4 mm wide; tip acute, trigonous, scabrid. Inflorescence bract present or absent, glumaceous, very scabrid, and can be shorter or longer than inflor., up to 5 cm long (all versions can be on the one plant). Glumes deciduous, mature utricles dark brown, shiny.
