I agree with Dixon that this material is a "deflexa-form" of Camptochaete angustata (Mitt.) Reichdt.

Camptochaete spurio-deflexa Beckett was originally published as a synonym of C. angustata (Mitt.) Jaeg. by Dixon [New Zealand Institute Bulletin 3(5): 274. 1927] and therefore is correctly listed as invalid (not accepted by describing author).
I would accept the ruling in Tropicos.
Tangney (1997) does not discuss thi sname in his revision of Camptochaete.
