Habitat:
Growing as several discrete patches in a mosaic of swamp flax and various sedges and rushes in a spring-fed wetland at the base of a scarp alongside the river. Nearby larger Carex secta pedestals frequently supported perching Hierochloe redolens and Blechnum minus.
Substrate: Mapped as Ruapuna yellow-grey to yellow-brown intergrade, but in reality consisting largely of accumulated saturated organic deposits over riparian alluvial deposits.
Notes:
Most patches were carrying abundant seed.
Site: Currently vulnerable to livestock, but proposed to be legally protected by a QEII covenant and to be physically protected by fencing.
