Habitat:
Growing in shallow rendzina soils over and among limestone debris below a large limestone cliff (Puhi Puhi syncline).
Microhabitat:
Adjacent to a large limestone bluff and rubble-field, mid slope height on the north-eastern aspect of the Puhi Puhi syncline. Dominated by emergent Discaria toumatou and Coprosma propinqua over Poa cita, Festuca novae-zelandia and Dactylis glomerata over a variety of native and exotic herbs and grasses. Aciphylla sp. 'Mount Cass' was common nearby on rockier terrain.
Notes:
A single specimen of this species found, being a loosely leaved rosette about 0.3 m high x 0.4 m across, with no flower head. This single plant was tucked in secondary shrubland grazed by sheep, deer and goats.
Site: Proposed to be protected by way of a QEII covenant.
