Nothofagus solandri var. cliffortioides (NOTCLI) and Nothofagus solandri var. solandri (NOTSVS) virtually indistiguishable from a small sample. Leaf bases rounded (NOTCLI); leaf tips obtuse (NOTSVS). Relying on strength of leaf base character, less plastic than leaf tip, and the skills of the field botanist.
