Under stunted regenerating mixed broad leaved forest of fivefinger, mahoe, Olearia paniculata.
Notes:
Common on island within forest stands. Occasional in open, exposed situations where leaves are smaller, less toothed and thicker. Compare Melicytus aff. obovatus which is sympatric in places.
