Notes:
Fruit. Bark hard, rough, grey-brown. Tree multi-trunked, crown 4 m tall, 6 m wide. Shoots green (not yellow like Sophora microphylla, nor grey as in Sophora godleyi). Leaflets shiny above, both surfaces with appressed antrorse hairs. All the kowhai trees had foliage similar to this.
