Specimen notes
Supplementary remarks:
I suppose this little Celmisia is a hybrid. Is it possibly C. novae-zelandiae x C. alpina? Is this not the species called C. novae-zealandiae in Young & Oliver's book of the early plants? I have not seen what I take to be the real C. novae-zealandiae at Arthur's Pass, and would treat the plant of that locality as variety. Possibily this specimen has the origin you suggest, but I would not care to say so definitely without field evidence.
