Comparing well to material from PNG (Koponen 33169 det. D. Norris, CHR 352051). But I do not understand the relationship between H. hyophila and H. novae=seelandiae and do not have any material of the latter for comparison.

Habitat:
On soil covered, rotting Metrosideros kermadecensis log lying on ravine floor. Very shaded under a dense canopy of Pohutukawa/Myrsine.

Hyophila is in a mat of Rhaphidorrhynchium amoenum & Eurhynchium speciosum and 1 stem of Fissidens sp.
Compares well with sepcimens from elsewhere e.g., Paupa New Guinea (CHR 325051) & Cook Is (CHR 586742).
