Garden boundary in tall shrubbery windbreak.
Notes:
High climbing vine. Stipules broad, entire or nearly so, ± auriculate. Leaf lamina shining green above. Tepals 4.5-5 cm long, 1.8-2.2 cm wide, oblong-elliptic, orange-red except for reverse of outer whorl that range from ± completely pale green to 2 that have only keel green. Corona a purple, white-toothed rim. Filaments and styles pale pinkish-orange; latter > stamens by nearly 1 cm; stigmas green. Fruits (not quite ripe) c. 6 x 3 cm, oblong-elliptic tending obovoid. Bracts united for c. ¾ of length. Hypanthium 9.5-10 cm long. Probably no more than a relic of cultivation.
