Habitat:
In podocarp forest on a wet terrace. Pyrrosia eleagnifolia is also present on the tree trunk and Asplenium flaccidum is present on other tree trunks nearby. The wetland forest here has a sparse canopy of Podocarpus totara, Dacrycarpus dacrydioides and Griselinia littoralis. Lower canopy species include Pseudowintera colorata, Lophomyrtus obcordata and Melicytus ramiflorus. Important understorey species are Sophora microphylla, Coprosma rhamnoides and sapling Dacrycarpus dacrydioides. Blechnum novae-zelandiae is dominant on the forest floor.
Microhabitat:
Growing on a Griselinia littoralis tree.
Notes:
This may be an interesting distribution record for this species. This area of forest is protected by a QEII Open Space covenant and has been indentified as a Significant Natural Area by Timaru District Council.
