Habitat:
Abundant along trackside and on fallen logs, growing in this instance on damp gritty soil amongst Pteris comans, Carex testacea and Adiantum hispidulum under a dense canopy of pohutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa).
Notes:
Racopilum cuspidigerum var. convolutaceum and R. strumiferum are easily one of the most common "conspicuous" mosses on the island.
