Altitudes:
from 100m
Habitat:
In dense kauri (Agathis australis)- rawiri (Kunzea ericoides var. linearis)- monoao (Halocarpus kirkii) forest. Corticolous on Metrosideros bartlettii canopy branches found lying on forest floor.
Notes:
Associated with Cheilolejeunea sp., Frullania sp. (possibly F. fugax and F. rostrata), and Austrolejeunea conchophylla. Plants minute, scarcely visible at 20x magnification, when fresh leaves and stems distinctly pinkish brown, leaves ovate with the leaf margins conspicuously acute-tipped to apiculate. Clearly a scarce species which we failed to find on other Metrosideros bartlettii (as well as other canopy trees) growing in the vicinity of the tree which forms the type locality.

Agathis australis
Kunzea ericoides var. linearis
Halocarpus kirkii
Metrosideros bartlettii
