Habitat:
Estuary shore, top of stony bank < 2 m high.
Notes:
Shrub c. 1.5 m high, rather dense. Leaves thick, greenish-white beneath, white beneath when young; margins ± revolute. Flowers somewhat fragrant. Sepals narrow oblong, greenish-white tomentose. Petals 1.3-1.5 cm long x 4-5 mm wide, narrow elliptic, dark red, strongly revolute in distal half. Capsules 1.4-1.7 x 1.4-1.7 cm, sometimes ± laterally compressed, dark. Seeds 3-5 mm across, rather irregular shaped, shining black and very viscid. Several plants. Possibly originally planted.
