Lvs 5-10 mm; truncated racemes (flrs solitary in Gaultheria parvula and racemose in G. rupestris); fruits appear to be capsules but not evenly split; rachis and sepals light green; some corollas turning brown; leaves with strikingly more lanceolate lvs; plants <10 cm high
