Habitat:
Mossy, wet, sinking area around Peter's pool. Flat area. Gaultheria rupestris also found in surrounding wet, swampy areas off same trail.

Notes:
30 cm high, scrambling close to ground in vegetation. Reddish brown branchlets. Leaves green/reddish brown. Solitary, axillary bright pink berry with calyx that is also pink and fleshy near base (lobes of fleshiness). Immature calyx has a fleshy base but the calyx is green with red/brown sepal lobe tips.
