Habitat:
This is a flat mossy/scrubby area on trail from Waihohonu hut to Desert road (closer to the hut). These are the GPS coordinates for the individual hybrids collected for the population AFLP analysis. Gaultheria colensoi is fairly common along the trail and in the scrubby area. Exposed area. This plant growing right at base of Leptospermum shrub.

This is the parent voucher for the Gaultheria colensoi × G. macrostigma AFLP analysis. Very red petioles. ~ 20 cm tall. Terminal dry racemes.
