Habitat:
This plant was found in shady black beech forest. Topsoil was beech leaves. Deep soil. This plant was back from the trail 10 m. Deep leaf litter.

This plant may still be a putative hybrid with Gaultheria antipoda. ~30 cm tall. Pink small berry, whitish fleshy calyx (sepal lobes not fleshy). Wiry habit. Petioles red. Internodes long. Solitary, axillary fruits.
