Narrow gorge incised in soft mudstone and naturally dammed - water sluggish to 1 m deep. On gorge wall, 0.5 m above water. (only 10 m from #4646 [CHR 591890 A & B]).
Overhung by Coprosma robusta - Phormium cookianum - Cortaderia fulvida.

Tussocks - maybe 30 -50 along 50 m of gorge wall. Some more rubust than others. Stigmas 2, male spike(s) without any ♀ flowers; utricles beaked, almost without hispid projections; leaves double folded.
