Supplementary remarks:
Hypnum Helmsianum CM nsp Hb. Helms No 20 I think this is only a variety of H austrinum. It closely resembles Bell No 484 identified by Mitten as H. austrinum In general appearance it is very like my Waimate specimen 69 concerning wh [which] Cheeseman remarks "I have this from Auckland and consider it to be a species not mentioned in Handbk [Handboook] it is nearly allied to H austrinum" The leaves of my Rockwd [Rockwood] (Nov [18]90) are exactly like H Helmsianum and are finely serrated from the base. NZ 152 and W. Bell 484 are identical.
