These plants are growing in a sunny situation with a more North than East aspect.
Notes:
Plant Register ID: 98/143These plants are growing in a flower bed at the above property in Hawera amongst other bulbous species. The soil is typical of the area being of a sandy loam compostion. Owner I.M. LudbrookInflor. curving. Bracts herbaceous; outer c. 5.5 cm long; inner c. 3.7 cm long. Flowers bending secund. Perianth slightly irregular with curving tube and subequal lobes facing outwards c. 7.3 cm long to apex of lower lobes & c. 7.8 cm long to apex of upper lobes. White with reddish-purple markings on 3 lower segments and at mouth of tube. Perianth tube c. 4 cm long, very slender except near apex; lobes c. 3.7-3.8 cm long, ± elliptic - oblanceolate; lower segments c. 1.1 cm wide; upper segs c. 1.5 cm wide. Style + branches > stamens, incl. purple anthers 7 mm long.
