Isotype of Rhynchostegium peracuminatum Dixon & Sainsbury, Transactions and Proceedings of the Royal Society of New Zealand 75: 185 (1945)
Supplementary remarks:
Isotype of Rhynchostegium peracuminatum Dixon & Sainsbury, Trans. N. Z. Inst. 75: 185 (1945) N.Z., on damp log, Ohakune, 20. Aug. 1926, R. Mundy s.n., (herb. Sainsbury 728a).
I concur with Sainsbury (1955a, p. 443) that type material of R. peracuminatum Dixon & Sainsbury is referrable to R. laxatum. The type has branch leaves mostly 2.7-3.0 × 0.65-0.75 mm and the specimen is brighter yellow and more lustrous than more representative herbarium specimens of R. laxatum. Most mid laminal cells in the branch leaves are c. 75 µm long.

Supplementary remarks:
Isotype of Rhynchostegium peracuminatum Dixon & Sainsbury, Trans. & Proc. New Zealand Inst. 75: 185 (1945).
I consider the leaf measurements that I made from this material in April 2004 to be in error. I have re-examined it in association with a duplicate collection (WELT M005804) and find few if any branch leaves exceeding 1.8 × 0.5 mm.
The WELT [WELT M 005894] isotype of this name is more ample than CHR 570188a. I have not seen material in the Dixon herbarium.
