Supplementary remarks:
"Dixon's & my Sematophyllum macrosporum shd [should] in my opinion be merged in the East Indian Rhaphidorrhynchium subcylindricum Broth. Fleischer's description & specimen lent me by the Helsinki Museum from Bortherus' Herb. matches our plant well except for the latter's frequent lack of cilia, wh. [which] however I have found to be inconstant, except in the original specimen. The absence of cilia taken alone should not be given too much weight in my opinion apart from the difficulty of proof where fruiting material is not abundant. The N.Z. plant might be set up as a var. but I wd [would] not maintain it as a species".
