Notes:
these forms forming mosaic at bog margin; the "Dicranum scoparium" form is apparently a juvenile form that intergrades with more typical Dicranoloma robustum.!AJF July 2000.In the erect spreading material:Costa at mid leaf (in cross section ) 60-65 µm wide and with 5-6 median guide [cells]. Leaf margins weakly serrate to ± entire above. Median laminal cells elongate, thick-walled, and porose.I believe this is representative of what Dixon termed Dicranoloma integrifolium.

Supplementary remarks:
This erect-spreading form had leaves c. 8 mm, weakly serrate to nearly entire; the costa at mid leaf 60-65 µm wide and with 5-6 median guide cells; mid laminal cells elongate and porose. It is unquestionably referable to D. robustum (presumably matching Dixon's concept of D. integrifolium). This material forming a mosaic with AJF 11430 which is clearly the same species, albeit with shorter leaves and somewhat less developed costae. In the Lammermoor Ra. (cf. Fife 11430 & 11431) a very clear mosaic of the erect-spreading form of D. robustum and a more erect- and imbricate-leaved form has been observed. The co-occurrence and intergradation of these two forms in wet subalpine or alpine peatlands provides evidence of the plasticity of D. robustum and some understanding of the several names which have been applied to this protean species.
