Notes:
Flower/fruit. Leaves grass-like, folded, finely scabrid margins (and keel near tip), leaf sheath glabrous except for fine long hairs at blade junction. Culms terete or slightly compressed. No involucral bracts, but dense long hairs just below inflorescence. Mostly 2 spikes/culm with 14-20 spikelets each; dull purple-green. 5-7 glumes/spikelet, distichous; each flower hermaphrodite, stamens 2-3, stigmas 2, nut spherical.
