(The parents of this specimen originally from his [A. Kings] garden; he distributed seedlings to various members of the Wanganui Botanical Group during 1990s).
A. King did not breed hybrid Echiums deliberately, but some he believed to be of hybrid origin came up spontaneously in his Fordell garden. This is one of them - now a wide branched shrub 1.8 m tall. Flowers spring.
