Supplementary remarks:
It is unlikely that Berggren actually collected in the Kaimanawa Ra. [Range]. In August 1874 he travelled from Napier [to] Taupo, passing near or thru the Ahimanawa Ra [Range] (there could be a transcription error). Between 12 Dec 1974 and 19 Feb 1875 he traveled from Auckland to Ruapehu (via Taupo and Tokaanu), returning to Auckland by the same route. It is possible that he spent time in/near the Kaimanawa Ra. [Range] during this trip. In Dixon and Bartram (1837), three species (Dicranella perfalcata, Grimmia campestris, and G. [Grimmia] trichophylla) are mentioned from "Kaimanawa, Ruapehu, North Island; two are dated 1874.
