Habitat:
Confined to areas that were formerly in pasture and now reverting flaxland and tree fern land. Plants often epiphytic. Shrubs up to 3 m tall, leaves broad, dark green (not glaucous), bases almost completely amplexicaul, branchlets glabrescent but with distinctive large hairs, leaf bud with or without sinus. Putative parents present in the same area.
