Notes:
Common. A heterogeneous assemblage of specimens growing in regenerating forest along roadside. Co-associated with Knightia excelsa and Pseudopanax arboreus. Single-trunked trees 8-15 m tall, branches pendulous and often interlacing. Bark tearing in long narrow tabular strips but with much secondary flaking. Branchlet hairs mixtures of appressed antrorse, retrorse and many small patent hairs. Leaves bright green oblanceolate, lamina distinctly pigmented red, finely pubescent. Flowers with dark red disc, (6-)7(-8) mm diam., stamens(22-)25(-28) arranged [3(+2) -3,4 as] × 5pe. Stigma capitate, style very short 0.5-0.7 mm. Sepals triangular erect. Characters of K. ericoides var. microflora evident in growth form, smaller leaves, presence of patent hairs, and lower stamen numbers. K. "latifolia" habit seen in taller, single trunked tree habit, and by the very hairy branchlets dominated by antrorse, appressed silky hairs.
