Notes:
Growing on sand podzols and associated peat. Part of a prolific hybrid swarm between K. ericoides var. linearis (e.g. AK 287956) and K. aff. ericoides ("latifolia"). This specimen 2 m tall, a solitary shrub, with very upright branches. Branchlets very hairy, hairs appressed, flexuous to straight, antrorse. Leaves, oblanceolate, silky hairy on laminal margins. Flowers solitary along stems, calyx lobes sharply acute, erect petals forward projecting, stamens 38-68. A very clear hybrid between K. ericoides var. linearis and K. "latifolia" (probably and F1 based on artificial crosses I have made). This habitat was the scene of major kauri-gum digging during the late 1800's to mid 1930's, when it was repeatedly burned and dug over. Thus providing an ideal habitat for frequent, extensive, sustained introgressed hybridism.
