Ex. Cult. Collected on 12 February 2006 as a single wild plant with one flower 20 mm tall, growing in wet depression by side of house - place where Cystopteris fragilis had been found adventive in 2002 and was eradicated by this collector in 2003. This plant is not grown in the adjacent garden and I have not seen it in cultivation elswhere on the island so its origin is a mystery. Cultivated at the University of Auckland since February but has yet to flower. Leaves purple underneath, dark green above, leaf sheath hyaline with dark purple-red stripes and long silky hairs toward leaf junction.
