Habitat:
Small gully bottom in pasture, steep, open grass slope.
Notes:
Erect herb with thick taproot. Leaves ± cobwebby-white hairy beneath; prickles pale. Phyllaries ± dark purple on upper side, at least upper ones. Capitula nodding at anthesis, 4-5cm across. Florets (rosy)-purple. Anthers dark violet-purple. Uncommon and a few isolated plants only. However a large population of nodding thistle c.50m below. Sheets A to B
