From young tree 3-4m high towards bottom of Pinetum among trees and saplings to c.5m high, broad pyramidal with ± horizontal branches. Shoots pale shining grey-brown. Leaves pectinate, glossy green or dark green above, a glaucous band on either side of midrib below, little aroma when bruised. Leaves forming a V and exposing upper surface of shoots, this feature also seen on shoots of potential large parent trees in the Pinetum. Spontaneous plants abundant.
