Notes:
Achene cones about 1.5 mm, cylindrical. Scape hollow, turning reddish towards upper portion. Plants appear to have several forms - a small overwintering rosette with simple leaves (Specimen A). A larger chasmogamous form with lyrate toothed leaves (Specimen B), and cleistogamic form with denticulate to simple leaves, small flowers which do not open and the ligules do not project far beyond bracts. What causes transition between the forms is unknown, but the overwinter simple leaf form is present in plants that later develop into the chasmogamic or cleistogamic form - this may be a result of age (older plant showed the chasmogamic form), or climate (chasmogamic form developed earlier).
