In beach drift, physiognomically dominant, with Phormium cookianum, marram, Crocosmia.
Notes:
Plentiful along beach north to Blaketown. Possible natural southern limit on West Coast (possibility of naturalisation from plantings can not be excluded). Also occurs along roadside just north of Paroa (probably planted)
